- Goal
- Your trial or license key active, with every feature unlocked.
The trial starts on its own
The first time MaxTo runs, it starts a 14-day trial. There is no button to press: every feature is available right away, and the License page in Settings shows how many days remain.
Where to enter a license key
- Click the MaxTo icon in the menu bar and choose Settings….
- Choose License in the toolbar.
- Paste your license key into the License key field and click Activate.
MaxTo checks the key with maxto.net, so you need to be online. A valid key activates immediately: the page changes to show who it’s Registered to, the Edition, and when it Expires. No restart is required.
Don’t have a key yet? Buy MaxTo… on the same page takes you to the store.
One key, both platforms
License keys work on both Mac and Windows. If you already own MaxTo for Windows, paste the same key on your Mac — there’s nothing separate to buy.
Macs managed by an organization
A Mac that is enrolled in device management (MDM) or bound to Active Directory needs a Business license. A Home license on such a Mac is turned down with “This Mac is managed by an organization”, and the key isn’t activated. Your organization’s IT department can tell you whether your Mac is managed.
Working offline
Once activated, MaxTo checks the license with maxto.net from time to time. If it can’t reach the server, the license keeps working for 30 days from the last successful check.
Remove a license from this Mac
Open Settings → License, click Remove License…, and confirm. The page goes back to showing the key field, ready for a different key.
When the trial expires
If 14 days pass without a license key, MaxTo’s shortcuts open the License page instead of the resize grid. Activate a key from there, or come back later — your settings, presets and remembered positions stay where you left them. The Open Settings shortcut keeps working regardless.
