Troubleshooting

When something looks wrong, check the known cases below first. If none fit, mail support from inside MaxTo.

Surface Settings → General · About MaxTo
માફ કરશો, આ પૃષ્ઠ પરની કેટલીક સામગ્રી હજુ ગુજરાતીમાં ઉપલબ્ધ નથી.
Goal
The problem identified — from one of the known cases below, or with a support mail that has everything we need.

Common issues

Nothing happens when I press the shortcut

Work through these in order:

  1. Accessibility access. Open Settings → General. If Accessibility access doesn’t read Granted, click Open System Settings… and turn on MaxTo under Privacy & Security → Accessibility. Without it, MaxTo can’t move windows, and its shortcuts bring the macOS prompt back instead.
  2. A beep. If you hear a beep, no window had focus — for example, you’d just clicked the desktop, or the frontmost app has no open windows. Click the window you want to move and try again.
  3. The License page opens instead. The trial has ended or the license has expired. See Activate or start your trial.
  4. Truly nothing. Another app or macOS itself is probably using the same combination. Settings → Shortcuts shows a warning under a shortcut like that; pick a different one there. See Customize your shortcuts for which combinations tend to be free.

A remembered position isn’t applied to some windows

Remembered positions apply to an app’s ordinary document windows. Dialogs, sheets and panels are left alone, and a recall leaves minimized windows in the Dock. See How remembering works.

A full-screen window takes a moment to move

When you snap a window that’s in full screen, MaxTo takes it out of full screen first, waits for the animation to finish, and then places it. That short pause is expected.

Activating a license fails

The message under the key field says why:

  • “Couldn’t reach maxto.net.” Check your internet connection and try again. Activation needs to reach maxto.net once.
  • “Your Mac’s clock is wrong.” Correct the date and time in System Settings → General → Date & Time, then try again.
  • “This Mac is managed by an organization…” Your Mac is enrolled in device management or bound to Active Directory, and needs a Business license. See Macs managed by an organization.
  • “That doesn’t look like a valid license key.” Copy the whole key again — it’s long, and easy to cut short.

The trial says it’s ended right after I installed

MaxTo detects the clock being set back. If your Mac’s clock went backwards by more than an hour, MaxTo treats the trial as ended to prevent indefinite re-runs.

Set the clock to the correct current time and re-launch MaxTo. The trial resumes from where it should.

Contact support

If something’s broken and none of the above helps, choose About MaxTo in the menu bar and click Support. It starts an email to support@maxto.net with your MaxTo version, macOS version and display layout already filled in. Describe what you expected and what happened instead.
