Add gaps between snapped windows

Margins put visible breathing room between a snapped window and the edges of its zone.

What margins do

By default, snapped windows fill their zone edge-to-edge. Two windows sitting next to each other touch. Setting a margin shrinks every snapped window by a few pixels, which leaves a small visible gap around it.

Set a margin

  1. Open Settings → Displays and pick a display.
  2. Set Margins to a number of pixels.
  3. The next snap on that display will use the new margin.

Practical numbers

A margin of 4 to 8 pixels is plenty for a visible separation without wasting screen space. 0 (the default) snaps edge-to-edge.

Margins are per display, so you can have a tight layout on one monitor and a roomier one on another.
