- Goal
- Every MaxTo command sits on a combination your fingers like and Windows doesn't already claim.
The hotkeys
MaxTo has five global keyboard shortcuts, all under Settings → Shortcuts:
- Resize. Opens the resize overlay over the focused window. Default: Win + Alt + Space.
- Settings. Opens the Settings window. No default — set one if you’d like one.
- Recall window. Moves the active window back to its remembered position. No default.
- Recall all windows. Moves every window with a remembered position back into place. No default.
- Fit to grid. Snaps the active window to the closest grid cells. No default.
Pick a combination Windows isn’t already using
If the combination you choose is already claimed by Windows or by another application, MaxTo can’t grab it. The hotkey will silently do nothing when you press it.
You can verify by opening the log file (see Troubleshooting and logs) and looking for a line that says Failed to register hotkey. The fix is to pick a different combination.
What happens when the trial expires
If you’re in the trial period and it lapses (or you don’t yet have a license), pressing the resize shortcut opens the License page in Settings instead of the resize overlay. Activate a key from there to restore the normal behaviour. The Settings shortcut keeps working regardless.
