Goal

You're on the latest MaxTo, whichever way you installed it.

Automatic updates

MaxTo checks for updates while it’s running and downloads them in the background. There is nothing to click and no manual download for routine updates. New versions are applied the next time MaxTo restarts.

Automatic updates apply to the installer version. The other install methods update differently:

• Scoop owns updates for its installs: run scoop update maxto. Autostart survives the update — MaxTo registers Scoop’s stable path, not the versioned directory.
• Portable zip copies never touch themselves. To update, download the newer zip and unpack it over the old folder; your settings are stored separately under %AppData%\MaxTo and are unaffected.

Check your version

Open Settings → About. The current version appears at the top of the page along with a list of the open-source components MaxTo bundles.

When does MaxTo restart?

Updates take effect on the next launch. If you’d like to apply an update right away, exit MaxTo from the tray icon and start it again.
