- The region you use most is saved as a preset, bound to a single key.
Save a preset
- Focus a window and press Win + Alt + Space to open the resize overlay.
- Drag across the grid to outline the rectangle you want to save.
- Hold Ctrl while releasing the mouse. A small dialog appears asking you to press a key.
- Press the key you’d like to bind. Confirm with Save.
That key is now bound to that rectangle on that display.
Apply a preset
With the resize overlay open, press the bound key on its own — no modifiers. The focused window snaps to the saved rectangle and the overlay closes.
Preset keys are displayed as keyboard glyphs — a preset bound to a digit shows as “1”, not “D1” — and the numpad digits count as the same key as the top-row digits.
You’ll also see a thumbnail of every saved preset along the edge of the overlay — up to 100, wrapping onto new lines, in the same alphabetical shortcut-key order as the tray menu. Hovering one previews the position on the focused window without committing; clicking it applies the preset.
Holding Shift while clicking a preset (or pressing its key) does one thing more: it also remembers that position for the focused window’s application.
Presets survive grid changes — they’re stored as fractions of the screen, not cell coordinates. The grid explains why.
Presets across displays
If you press a preset key on a display that doesn’t have it, MaxTo will look for that key on your other displays. If it finds one, it switches the overlay to that display and applies the preset there.
