Settings reference

Every option in the Settings window, grouped by page, with default values and where the value lives on disk.

General

Displays

Applications

Lists every application with a remembered position, with a thumbnail of its region on the grid. New windows from these applications are moved to their remembered position; the first entry that matches wins. See Remember where windows belong.

ControlDefaultNotes
Automatic (per application)OnAutomatically move new windows from this application to their remembered position. Off: the position is only used by the recall shortcuts.
Forget application (per application)Removes the entry and its remembered position.
Add applicationOpens a dialog listing open windows; picking one remembers its application and current position.
Only windows like this oneOffIn the Add application dialog. Narrows the match to windows of the same type as the one picked.

Shortcuts

Where settings are stored

Settings live in a JSON file at:

%AppData%MaxTosettings.json
Don't hand-edit it The format is internal and may change between releases. Configure MaxTo through the Settings UI; that's the only supported path.
