Keyboard shortcuts

Every shortcut MaxTo responds to, in one table.

Global

Win + Alt + SpaceOpen the resize overlay over the focused window. Configurable.
(no default)Open the Settings window. Configurable.
(no default)Recall window — move the active window back to its remembered position. Configurable.
(no default)Recall all windows — move every window with a remembered position back into place. Configurable.
(no default)Fit to grid — snap the active window to the closest grid cells. Configurable.

Change any of them under Settings → Shortcuts.

Inside the resize overlay

ActionWhat it does
Click and dragSelect a rectangle of cells. The focused window resizes live to match.
Ctrl + release of the dragSave the drawn rectangle as a preset bound to a key you press next.
Shift + release of the dragRemember the drawn rectangle as the position for this window’s application.
Any single key (no modifiers)Apply the preset bound to that key, if any. Numpad digits count as the same key as the top-row digits.
Shift + a preset key, or Shift + click a presetApply the preset and remember it as the position for this window’s application.
TabSwitch the overlay to the next monitor. (When a screen reader such as Narrator, NVDA or JAWS is running, Tab moves focus instead.)
PageDown / PageUpSwitch the overlay to the next / previous monitor, wrapping around.
EscDismiss the overlay without moving the window.

If both Ctrl and Shift are held when you release, Ctrl wins and a preset is saved. Modifiers are read at the moment you release the mouse.
